🎙️ Silvertown by Jonny Woo
Excerpts from a new play by Jonny Woo; a work in progress.
About
Jonny Woo is at the Tate Institute for a special look at his new play, Silvertown. Set at closing time in 1967, it follows the landlord and barman of the legendary (and very real) Kent Arms as they navigate the night the laws around gay life finally began to change.
This is a "work in progress" sharing, so you’ll get to see rehearsed scenes and then join a Q&A to chat about the research, the writing, and queer life in the Docks then vs. now.
It’s a rare chance to see these stories performed inside the Tate Institute—the original 1887 social club for the sugar factory. It’s the perfect backdrop for a story rooted right here in these streets.
